Bill Slagle established Walnut Meadows Ginseng Farm more than 25 years ago. His aim has always been to enjoy the pleasure of growing a new and exotic plant and to obtain the many benefits of the plant in tea and from chewing the root.

Bill's hobby has since turned into a small business that allows him to meet many new people and proclaim the benefits of the consumption of ginseng.

Walnut Meadows Ginseng Farm now has more than 5 acres under its management.

Let us become your #1 supplier of woods-grown ginseng

To Ginseng Dealers and Buyers: we endeavor to produce the highest quality ginseng root possible.

We don't sell root till at least 8 years of age and most root is marketed between 10-15 years of age. Growth rate is controlled by dense population and soil nutrients for these reasons our product has demanded much higher prices than wild root prices.

We supply seed produced in West Virginia from native wild ginseng for our starter product. In northern West Virginia the growing season spans from May 1st to October 15th with seed harvested between September 10th to October 1st.

Our seed is certified disease free from the 5 major ginseng diseases (Verticillium, Fusarium, Alternaria panax, Collectotrichum panacicola (anthracnose), and Nectria). Our seed is also germination tested every year.
